10/15/2026 — News Brief: Venture Global Power, Orange County Plant and Lockheed Expansion

1. U.S. Gulf Coast — Venture Global frames more than 10 gigawatts of off-grid power

10/15/2026 — Venture Global said Thursday it signed frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes Energy Services covering up to 16 new 720-megawatt power-island units and associated transformers. The company says the equipment framework could support its LNG business and a separate pathway to as much as 10 gigawatts of compute capacity at sites it owns or controls.

The units would use combined-cycle gas turbines in behind-the-meter systems, creating potential scope for turbines, piping, electrical equipment, controls, cooling and data-center construction. This is a staged framework, not a commitment to build all 16 units: Venture Global expects its first purchase order by year-end, with later orders dependent on customer commitments and commercial demand.

2. Orange County, Texas — Entergy places 1,215-megawatt combined-cycle plant in service

10/15/2026 — Entergy Texas placed the Orange County Advanced Power Station into service Wednesday, adding 1,215 megawatts of around-the-clock capacity in Southeast Texas. The combined-cycle facility can supply the equivalent of more than 230,000 homes and is designed to adjust output as demand changes.

The operating milestone closes the major construction phase after Entergy says the project generated about $1.8 billion in economic activity and supported more than 7,000 direct jobs. Plant operations now shift the emphasis to reliability, inspections, controls and long-term mechanical and electrical maintenance as regional electricity demand continues to grow.

3. Grand Prairie, Texas — Lockheed Martin opens advanced munitions expansion

10/15/2026 — Lockheed Martin announced Wednesday that it is investing $300 million at its Grand Prairie operation, where a nearly 200,000-square-foot expansion increases the manufacturing footprint to more than 735,000 square feet. The project includes 100,000 square feet of new space and conversion of 85,000 square feet of offices for advanced manufacturing.

Lockheed says the site will add automation, digital manufacturing and precision machining, including a 24-machine Hadrian cell targeted for early 2027. The company plans 6,000 jobs nationally, including 2,000 in Texas, but did not publish a Grand Prairie hiring schedule or assign all of those positions to the expanded facility.

4. New Haven, Connecticut — Cross Sound Cable schedules two-week transmission outage

10/15/2026 — The 330-megawatt Cross Sound Cable between New Haven and Shoreham, New York, is scheduled to carry zero power in either direction from October 19 through October 31. ISO New England described the shutdown as planned work and said it does not expect reliability problems or bill increases from the outage.

Separate state and federal filings show preparations to relocate and rebury portions of the 24-mile submarine cable for the New Haven Harbor navigation project, including cable removal, installation and lowering work. ISO New England did not confirm that the October outage is directly tied to that construction, so the maintenance window and harbor work remain related in timing but not officially linked.

5. U.S. — Taihan wins $89 million high-voltage cable system order

10/15/2026 — Taihan Cable & Solution said Thursday it secured a 120 billion-won, approximately $89 million, turnkey order for a high-voltage alternating-current cable system in the United States. The customer is an unidentified U.S. power-network operator, and the company did not disclose the project location or total route length.

Taihan is responsible for engineering, manufacturing, installation and testing, making the award relevant to cable installers, electricians, splicers, testing technicians and commissioning crews. The disclosed order confirms a full delivery scope, but it does not establish a public hiring total or construction schedule.

6. Monroe, Michigan — Port berth and shore-power work receives state match

10/15/2026 — Michigan awarded the Port of Monroe $1.1 million to build a riverfront berth, rehabilitate the turning-basin dock, create a maritime-readiness wharf and install modern shore-power systems. The state said the award supports an $18.8 million federal Port Infrastructure Development Program grant.

The port estimates the work will create 240 construction jobs and sustain 20 long-term specialized maritime positions. The package establishes marine civil, structural and electrical scope, while individual contractor awards and field schedules still must be confirmed as the project advances.

7. Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas — HyProMag secures power for rare-earth magnet hub

10/15/2026 — HyProMag USA said Monday it secured electrical capacity from Oncor for cutting and finishing operations and the first phase of its planned Texas rare-earth magnet recycling and manufacturing hub. Weston Solutions is advancing permits, while Pegasus TSI has begun a request-for-quotation process to select a general contractor for the initial operations.

HyProMag targets commissioning cutting and finishing equipment in the first half of 2027 and completion of the integrated Phase 1 development in mid-2028, subject to financing, permitting and execution risks. The verified milestones create prospective electrical, process, controls and installation scope, but contractor selection is still underway and no new hiring total was announced.
